![]() I thought of a bunch of them when I first decided I wanted to write about Magic For Liars - I’m not immune to the temptations of laziness. It’s easy, it provides a starting point, if you phrase it well it makes for a nice pull quote…it’s a shortcut. I think a lot of the time the first impulse of the book reviewer is to search for a comparison to make. I lived in breathless anticipation of both these books for months and then, when I finally received them, it took me a week to get started on each and then I read each one in two days flat. ![]() Even more unusual is that they were both preorders, and stranger still, they feel like they go together. This is moderately weird in and of itself I actually try to focus my voracious book-buying instinct on ebooks now, since there’s limited space in my house and (more selfishly) I get the digital stuff quicker.
